  • The California Fish and Game Commission is excited to announce that, alongside our partners at the California Natural Resources Agency and California Department of Fish and Wildlife, last week California’s marine protected area (MPA) network made history as the first ecological network to be certified under the IUCN Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas.

  • For the first time in almost 30 years, population estimates were sufficient to support the Commission increasing the bag limit for northern pintail to three, which it did during its April 2025 meeting. “The Commission has multiple responsibilities, including conserving our fish and wildlife while also providing hunting and fishing opportunities.
